Pōhutukawa
Scent family: warm resinous woods with soft spice and depth.
Pōhutukawa is the whetū associated with remembrance — a space to honour those who have passed and the connections that endure beyond time.
In te ao Māori, the spirit leaves the body when a person dies which then journeys along the pathway of the spirits known as 'Te Ara Wairua'. This journey ends at Te Rerenga Wairua where an ancient Pōhutukawa tree stands on a ledge towards the ocean at the northern tip of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Pōhutukawa reminds us that memory is not something left behind; it is carried forward through story, presence, and care. It allows remembrance to sit gently alongside everyday life, without heaviness or overwhelm.
This collection draws on the warmth and steadiness of Pōhutukawa to create spaces that feel held, reflective, and grounding — supporting quiet moments of pause, memory, and connection within the home.
